Windows Vista Internet Not Working?
To help you fix your Windows Vista internet problems let’s start out with these steps:
- Check all cables and make sure they are securely attached, and try cycling the power on your Router and/or Modem.
- Go to Network Diagnostics by right-clicking the network icon (Icon of two monitors) in the lower right hand corner of your desktop, and then clicking Diagnose and repair.
- If the problem began after you installed new software, try removing the software to see if it fixes the issue.
Testing your broadband internet connection.

Type: CMD into the Search Box

Type these words in the command prompt: ping google.com

This is an example of a successful ping (A), and then a failed ping (B).
If you get "PING REQUEST COULD NOT FIND HOST " then the problem is your Modem or Router if applicable. ( Check for connectivity lights where your Ethernet cord plugs into your system
If the test was successful then your issue is most likely with your browsers settings, or a virus is silently causing your connection failure.
To check your browser settings in Internet Explorer 7 do the following:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on “Tools” then
- Click “Internet Options”
- Click the Connections TAB
- Click LAN Settings
- Make Sure AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS is the only thing checked
- Click OK
If the problem still persists the try this:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on “Tools” then
- Click “Internet Options”
- Click the Connections TAB
- Click on the Setup button at the top and follow the steps to setup a new connection.
